Job Summary
The Runner/Barback will play a dual role in helping keep the bar running smoothly and providing top-notch service to our guests. In this role, the Runner will assist bartenders by keeping the bar stocked, clean, and organized, while also interacting with customers to ensure they are having a great experience at our facility. This role will be key in maintaining the facility’s upbeat atmosphere and assisting with any guest needs across both the bar and recreational spaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Barback Duties
  • Assist bartenders by restocking supplies including glassware, ice, garnishes, and liquor.
  • Ensure the bar is kept clean and organized throughout the shift.
  • Clear tables, empty trash, and collect empty glasses and bottles.
  • Help set up and break down the bar area before and after shifts.
  • Monitor inventory and communicate any shortages to the General Manager.
• Runner Duties
  • Greet guests as they enter the facility and provide information about the bar, pickleball courts, and golf simulators.
  • Assist with seating guests and managing court or simulator bookings.
  • Answer guest inquiries about the facility, activities, and services in person or on the phone.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and order in all areas of the business and ensure the equipment is properly sanitized and stored.
  • Offer basic troubleshooting support for guests using the golf simulators or other equipment.
  • Handle customer concerns or complaints and escalate when necessary to management.
  • Provide exceptional guest service, creating a welcoming and fun atmosphere for all.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hospitality, barback, or customer service role preferred but not required.
• Must be at least 18 years old; 21 + preferred if assisting with alcohol service.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Willingness to assist with various duties throughout the facility as needed.
• Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling.
• Basic understanding of pickleball, golf simulators, or similar recreational activities is a bonus, but not required.

Working Conditions

• Need flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
• Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks associated with bar and court setup/maintenance, cleaning, and setting up / tearing down events.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

• In person, in the Grand Rapids location 100% of the hours scheduled
• Work is mostly standing and moving
• Standing, sitting, stooping, and bending for eight (8) to twelve (12) hours per day
• Must be able to lift, push, and pull fifty (50) pounds periodically
